LOGAN, Utah (AP) — Cache County Sheriff's deputies say a hunter's gun discharged when he slipped in the mud, fatally wounding one of his companions. Deputies say four men from Davis County were hunting pheasants at the Sportsman's Paradise hunting club when the incident occurred. The hunter who died is identified as 57-year-old Norman Newbold of Syracuse.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A court hearing is scheduled today in Salt Lake City for a truck driver accused of keeping women as sex slaves. A lawyer for Timothy Vafeades is expected to argue that evidence should be suppressed because Minnesota state police illegally searched his truck at a weigh station last year.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors have reached a plea deal with the girlfriend of a man who pleaded guilty in the shooting death of a Draper police officer. Court records show 35-year-old Traci Vaillancourt pleaded no contest to two reduced charges of obstructing justice. Her layer says she maintains her innocence, but the plea allows her to get closure and be released from jail.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Google released its annual list of the year's fastest-rising search requests around the world, and in Utah, the top requests came from those trying to watch World Cup matches. Utah's fastest rising search request on Google this year was "World Cup schedule." Other top trending Utah searches included "Joan Rivers," ''Medal Count" and "Ferguson Missouri."
