SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — For a half hour each work day, plumber Fred German puts down his wrenches and plunges and plays the piano at a Syracuse University chapel.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports (http://bit.ly/1uTfOBr ) that since 1997, the 54-year-old university employee has spent his lunch breaks playing the grand piano in Hendricks Chapel.
The self-taught musician has an upright piano in his apartment, but says he doesn't play it much because he doesn't want to disturb his neighbors. Instead, he uses his lunch break to play his own music or other artists' works in between bites of his sandwich.
The Queens native tells the newspaper that he may have had his head in a urinal in the morning, but come noon he can be found playing the grand piano.
