LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police say they've evacuated several hotel rooms at the MGM Grand casino on the Las Vegas Strip as they respond to a person who's possibly armed and suicidal in a room. Police say crisis negotiators and a SWAT team sent to the scene were trying to establish communication with the person.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Federal education officials are giving Nevada millions of dollars to expand preschool programs in the state. Gov. Brian Sandoval and state Superintendent Dale Erquiaga (EHR'-kee-AH'-guh) said today the first year's award is more than $6.4 million, and the state could potentially get more than $43 million over four years. Money will go toward preschools in Clark, Washoe, Lyon, Churchill and Nye counties.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A woman and two men from China pleaded guilty in federal court in Las Vegas to minor roles in what prosecutors say amounted to a $13 million illegal Internet gambling operation that was broken up by an FBI raid at high-roller suites at Caesars Palace. A sixth co-defendant is scheduled to have charges dismissed.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Police have identified the officer who fatally shot a robbery suspect Sunday morning inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. Las Vegas police said Sean Beck fired the fatal shot. The 43-year-old officer is on routine paid leave while the shooting is reviewed. Police have said the robbery suspect was shot after detectives tried to arrest him, used a Taser and the man reached toward his waist.
