LAS VEGAS (AP) — A North Las Vegas Fire Department spokesman says graffiti cleanup is to blame for sickening a few people inside a welfare office.
Capt. Cedric Williams said Tuesday that firefighters shut down the office at 3223 West Craig Rd. earlier after receiving reports that people inside were feeling nauseous.
He says firefighters treated three people at the scene and one woman was sent to a local hospital in stable condition.
Williams says firefighters tested the air quality and eventually determined that an effort to clean up graffiti on the building's backside was sending fumes through an air vent.
He says the fire department recommended the office stay closed for the rest of Tuesday to allow it to air out before employees return to work Wednesday.
