MANAMA, Bahrain (AP) — Bahrain's Interior Ministry says a policeman has been killed southwest of the capital Manama, in what authorities said was a "terror attack."
The ministry announced the attack on its official Twitter account late Monday. It says the police officer was on duty when the attack took place in Damistan. The ministry did not give further details.
Anti-government activists primarily drawn from the Sunni-ruled kingdom's Shiite majority frequently clash with police, and hard-line protesters have at times used improvised explosives. Bahrain is home to the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet.
