WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — The Wilmington Library will attempt to sell two "Robinson Crusoe" illustrations by N.C. Wyeth to raise money to pay for the upkeep of its newly renovated building.
The News Journal of Wilmington (http://delonline.us/1tZF9cE ) reports the illustrations will be auctioned Sunday at Freeman's auction house in Philadelphia.
One of the pieces, "I Stood Like One Thunderstruck, Or As I Had Seen An Apparition," is estimated to fetch $150,000 to $250,000. The other, "And No Sooner Had He The Arms In His Hands But, As If They Had Put New Vigor Into Him, He Flew Upon His Murderers Like a Fury," is expected to bring $120,000 to $180,000.
The Wilmington Library re-opened in January after a $10.4 million renovation. The project was partly financed by the sale of eight other Wyeth illustrations.
