PRAGUE (AP) — The Prague Zoo says four cheetah cubs have been born in the park.
Scientists say every cub is critical to saving the species, which is threatened with extinction in the wild. Cheetahs are the fastest animals on land.
The zoo says the four, who were born on Nov. 21, have survived the most critical period after the birth and their mother, 3-year-old Savannah, is taking good care of them.
The cubs have not been named yet and their sexes are not yet known.
It was the first birth for Savannah, who lives together with brothers Ben and Jerry. The zoo believes Ben is likely the father.
The zoo announced the birth Thursday, International Cheetah Day.
