STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) — Police and Stony Brook University officials say a student has died of an apparent suicide after jumping out of a college dorm window.
Newsday (http://nwsdy.li/1zQggDN ) reports the man jumped from the window around 2 p.m. Tuesday. He was found in the quad near the Stimson College dormitory. The quad is surrounded by four dormitories.
A Suffolk County homicide detective says the death is deemed a suicide.
A statement from university president Dr. Samuel L. Stanley Jr. said the student was declared dead at Stony Brook University Hospital. He said the student's family has been notified.
