ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A 44-year-old Elko man who stole gym bags full of clothes and cellphones belonging to girls on a high school volleyball team has been sentenced to up to three years in prison.

Elko County sheriff's deputies arrested Lancer Wagar in June 2013 after he was found in Lamoille Canyon with the property of the Spring Creek volleyball players.

Authorities tracked him there after one of the girls' parents picked up a cellphone signal.

Wagar told Judge Al Kacin at Monday's sentencing that he was sorry.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports (http://tinyurl.com/mttps3u) he said he didn't remember the theft at the school gym because he was high on methamphetamine.

Kacin said Wagar will be eligible for parole in a year. He also ordered him to pay $270 in restitution.
