This is Chris Redgrave for Zions Bank Speaking on Business.

In the U.S. we love our pets. And we're not afraid to show it. According to the American Pet Products Association, it's estimated that this year, Americans will spend a record-breaking $60 billion on our pets. This is a trend Teanna Flannery of Ruffledale Pet Resort and Paw Spa in Layton has her eye on. It's one of the reasons she decided to create a place for pets to have fun while their owners are away.

This year Ruffledale Pet Resort and Paw Spa is celebrating their 10th anniversary of being in business. Over the first decade, Teanna has expanded her space so it's now around 7,000 square feet, nearly double what it was when she started. She's also expanded her grooming facilities and now offers cat grooming and boarding.

Ruffledale is different than many boarding facilities in that animals are free to roam around all day instead of spending their time in the kennel. This does require a certain amount of socialization for each animal. So, before a pet even goes into the main area, Ruffledale professionals start with temperament tests to see what type of personality they're dealing with. The new animals are introduced slowly into the group, and sometimes this is done by bringing other animals in one-by-one to see how the pet responds. If an animal isn't comfortable around other pets or is overly aggressive, they have private rooms available. This keeps the animals happy and safe.

Private rooms aren't just for shy or aggressive animals but can also be rented for dogs staying at Ruffledale Pet Resort and Paw Spa. They come complete with bedding and a window, and you can bet the animals love their experience with plenty of room!

Teanna likes to tell the story of one of their canine clients was so excited to come to Ruffledale Pet Resort and Paw Spa for doggy daycare that, one day, he jumped out of his owner's car at the stoplight, ran across the parking lot and sat by the door waiting to be let in. Now THAT'S a happy hound!

For Zions Bank, I'm Chris Redgrave, speaking on business.
