MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Police in West Virginia say that a man suspected in four killings in separate shootings has been found dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The body of 39-year-old Jody Lee Hunt of Westover was found in the southern part of Monongalia Count, according to a state police spokesman. Lt. Dennis Johnson says Hunt's body was discovered in "a power line right of way."
ST. LOUIS (AP) — The management of the St. Louis Rams NFL team says there will be no discipline imposed against five Rams players who emerged for yesterday's game with their hands raised. The pose has come to symbolize the same gesture of solidarity with people from Ferguson, Missouri, who have been protesting the shooting of an unarmed 18-year-old Michael Brown by police officer Darren Wilson in August. The exact circumstances surrounding Brown's death are still in dispute, although a grand jury in St. Louis County said it could find no basis to indict Wilson.
ATLANTA (AP) — Kicking off a series of meetings in major cities, Attorney General Eric Holder has asked law enforcement and community leaders in Atlanta to help make something positive grow out of the divisive debate surrounding the shooting of an unarmed 18-year-old man by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri. Holder tells his audience he sees such meetings as a precursor to action aimed at avoiding violence on the streets and stimulating better communications between communities and law enforcement agencies.
NEW YORK (AP) — Cyber Monday isn't what it used to be. It has grown into something more like cyber month. Early reports indicate that online sales were less robust than had been expected. Retailers rolled out discounts and free shipping deals, but as of early evening these sales were up only 8.1 percent compared with last year. That's according to IBM Digital Analytics. One reason may be that many retailers extended their online deals into "Cyber Week" and even "Cyber Month."
WASHINGTON (AP) — Representatives of the major sports leagues are set to appear before a Senate committee delving into the troublesome issue of domestic violence — a subject that has competed with ordinary sports news for attention in recent months. On the eve of a public hearing by the Senate Commerce Committee, the NFL Players Associated notified Congress that it setting up an eight-member commission to advise league officials on how to handle the problem.
