SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Environmental groups and the Nez Perce Tribe have filed a lawsuit to prevent dredging of the lower Snake River. The federal lawsuit challenges the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' approval of a $6.7 million dredging project scheduled to begin next month. The Army Corps says dredging is needed for barge traffic to Lewiston.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A man charged with murder in the May 8 shooting deaths of two Boise men has been returned back to the state from Pennsylvania. The Boise Police Department says 44-year-old John Douglas is being held in the Ada County Jail. Police and prosecutors have not discussed a motive.
IDAHO CITY, Idaho (AP) — Former Idaho City postmaster Teresa Belau has been sentenced to ten days in jail for stealing a gift card from the mail. The Idaho Statesman reports Belau pleaded guilty, admitting she stole a Target gift card. A postal inspector says Belau admitted taking items on two other occasions.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Police say a 12-year-old boy crashed an SUV into the wall of an Idaho Falls church early today. Police say the boy took the SUV without the owner's consent. The vehicle came to rest at the edge of a large stage inside the New Life Church. No injuries were reported. The extent of damage to the building wasn't available.
