Brighton Ski Resort to open Tuesday

SALT LAKE CITY — The snow recently made its first mark on Utah mountains this season, and several ski resorts are days away from opening.

Brighton Ski Resort heads the season Tuesday, opening Majestic and Explorer chair lifts with limited trail access, according to a press release.

Opening day lift prices will be $37, and Brighton is offering free skiing on opening day to any veteran or active military member.

Alta, Brian Head Resort, Park City Mountain Resort, Snowbird and Solitude are opening this weekend.

Here are the opening dates for many of Utah’s ski resorts.

Salt Lake

Alta Ski Area: Alta, a ski-only mountain, will open Nov. 21. A variety of season passes are available to purchase on its website. Alta offers 116 runs.

Brighton Resort: Brighton will start its season Nov. 18. Utah family Magazine ranked Brighton No. 1 for family affordability, with day passes starting at $37. Kids seven and under ride/ski for free.

Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort: Snowbird will open Nov. 18. Snowbird will be open Thanksgiving Day and is offering packages for overnight stays either Nov. 26 or 27, including a Thanksgiving dinner at one of three dining options. Solitude Mountain Resort: Solitude skiers and snowboarders can access their mountain Nov. 21. In honor of opening weekend, one guest per season pass and ticket-book holder will ski for free. Solitude offers 65 runs, 51 percent of the runs being intermediate terrain.

Park City

Canyons Resort: Canyons Resort will open Nov. 28. Canyons has a variety of early bird deals on season passes until Nov. 23. Canyons also offers additional winter activities like winter zip tours, snowshoe tours, sleigh rides, dog sledding and fly fishing.

Deer Valley: Award-winning ski resort Deer Valley will open Dec. 6. The resort will be hosting the 2015 FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup, which will draw competitors from around the world to ski on Deer Valley’s 2002 Olympic slopes. This event will be free for the public to view.

Park City Mountain Resort: This resort will open Nov. 22. Season passes, including Epic Passes, PCMR "My Pass, My Way" Passes and EZ Access Passes are only offered until Nov. 23.

Provo

Sundance: Sundance will open Dec. 5. Sundance offers 40 runs and day passes can be purchased for $65.

Northern Utah

Beaver Mountain: This family-owned resort has not announced its opening date.

Wolf Mountain: Wolf Mountain opens Nov. 28. It hosts Utah’s largest night skiing scene with the entire mountain under lights.

Powder Mountain: Power Mountain will open Dec. 12. To commemorate its 42nd anniversary, Wednesday day passes will cost $42. Students with an ID can ski for $40 Monday through Thursday.

Snowbasin: Snowbasin will open Nov. 26 and guests can get 25 percent off list prices until Dec. 14. Snowbasin offers more than 100 runs, 50 percent of which are intermediate terrain.

Southern Utah

Brian Head Resort: Brian Head will open Nov. 22. Brian Head is known for its low prices, offering day passes starting at $35 and adult season passes starting at $679.

Eagle Point: Eagle Point opens Dec. 20. All youth ages 17 and younger may ski and snowboard free at Eagle Point with the Eagle Point Resort lodging packages.
