BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia Wesleyan College is creating a simulation-based education program for nursing students.
Officials say simulation training lab comes from funding from The Naylor Family Fund in 2010 and 2012.
The Howard D. and Audrey Holden Naylor Nursing Simulation Lab includes a multiple-room facility that helps nursing students gain real-world experience within the safety of the classroom.
The lab uses a wireless mannequin with fluid, pneumatic and electrical systems. The lab's also equipped with interactive mannequins for pediatric, as well as labor and delivery simulations.
Students are introduced and respond to a scenario that mimics a real patient simulation. After the scenario is over, students and faculty conduct a debriefing session.
