HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say no one was injured when a single-engine aerobatic plane with two people aboard made an emergency landing on a wide boulevard near Henderson Executive Airport.
Airport and Federal Aviation Administration officials say the pilot of the Extra 330/L aircraft landed and crashed into a chain-link perimeter fence a little before noon Wednesday.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor says the pilot reported engine failure as the aircraft approached the airport.
Henderson fire Battalion Chief Doug Koopman says the plane landed on a section of Volunteer Boulevard short of an airport runway after.
There was no fire, and both people aboard were able to exit the aircraft unassisted.
Airport spokeswoman Christine Crews says a crane was summoned to remove the damaged airplane.
