LOGAN, Utah (AP) — A 21-year-old man has been charged with negligent homicide in a three-vehicle crash that killed a Richmond man in Cache County.

Kalin Menlove-McGinnis of Tremonton is accused of rear-ending a Jeep driven by 42-year-old Leigh Purser near Cove and causing it to be struck by an oncoming pickup truck.

The Utah Highway Patrol says Menlove-McGinnis told investigators he had slept only three hours during the previous 48 hours before the Sept. 25 crash that killed Purser.

Menlove-McGinnis also was charged Monday with driving without a license.

Prosecutors say he continued to work two jobs after the accident, only getting a few hours of sleep every couple of days.

Menlove-McGinnis was ordered not to drive if he bails out of jail.
