BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. (AP) — The seven-week manhunt for a survivalist accused of ambushing two Pennsylvania state troopers, killing one and seriously wounding the other, is finally over. Eric Frein (freen) was captured today in an abandoned airplane hangar in a rural area of northeast Pennsylvania. The apparently quiet takedown of Frein ended weeks of tension and turmoil in the Poconos.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — The National Transportation Board is investigating the crash of a small plane at the Wichita airport today. The twin-engine Beechcraft King Air had just taken off for Mena, Arkansas, for refurbishing when it lost power and crashed into a flight-training building, killing four people, injuring five others and igniting a big fire. Three of the dead were inside a flight simulator.

DATELINE (AP) — Maine's governor says negotiations between state attorneys and lawyers for nurse Kaci Hickox have gone nowhere, and that he's prepared to use the full extent of his authority to protect the public. Hickox, who returned to the U.S. last week from treating Ebola victims in West Africa, is defying Maine's quarantine rules. She tested negative and says she is not a threat.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A federal judge is approving a plan that allows Stockton, California, to leave Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection by eliminating more than $2 billion in long-term debt payments without touching the city's pension obligations. The city successfully negotiated deals with all major creditors except Franklin Templeton Investments. The decision could be appealed.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The New York Knicks have spoiled the homecoming for NBA great LeBron James. The Knicks beat the Cavaliers 95-90 in Cleveland before a raucous crowd of 20,000-plus fans who had come to welcome home the Akron native. James decided to return to his hoops roots to try and help deliver a title to Cleveland. James spent four years in a Miami Heat uniform.
