OSO, Wash. (AP) — A woman whose home on the edge of the Oso mudslide was damaged by flooding organized an event Sunday to show support for Marysville and Tulalip tribal residents as they deal with their tragedy — the high school shooting that left two students dead and four wounded.
Elaine Young says she was comforted last spring by finding a card or note with a simple, "We're thinking of you."
Young organized a card-signing at Rhodes River Ranch restaurant at Oso where residents could send notes and children draw pictures with messages of encouragement.
She hopes to get the messages to tribal members and perhaps Marysville-Pilchuck High School students when they return in a week. Maybe they'll take comfort from notes like the ones she received saying they are loved.
