RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Bureau of Land Management wranglers are gearing up for an unusual wild horse roundup near the Nevada-Utah line where ranchers say protected mustangs are knocking down fences and impregnating their mares. Agency officials say the horses are also posing a hazard on U.S. 93 about 120 miles south of Ely.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Rancher Cliven Bundy is appearing in an online campaign ad for third-party Nevada congressional candidate Kamau Bakari. Bakari is black and Bundy has been criticized for comments earlier this year that black people were better off as slaves. In the ad, Bundy and Bakari are clad as cowboys and lament political correctness.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say 147 workers will get almost $2 million in back from a contractor on a federally funded solar power project in the Nevada desert. The U.S. Labor Department says the workers at the Crescent Dunes Solar Energy Project in Tonopah were paid general labor rates although they were performing skilled tasks.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — An Allegiant Airlines flight returned shortly after takeoff to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas after a report of possible engine trouble. Allegiant spokesman Micah Lillard says flight 580 took off for Bellingham, Washington, about 9 a.m. and landed safely less than 15 minutes later, after the crew reported unusual vibrations in the left engine.
