SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A jury found an Orem man guilty of killing his wife after a night of drinking, possibly to collect nearly $1 million in insurance money. The jury deliberated for more than 15 hours before reaching the verdict. Prosecutors say 32-year-old Conrad Truman shot and killed Heidy Truman with a point-blank gunshot to the head.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors say a 15-year-old girl found dead in a Utah river two years ago was killed by her then-14-year-old boyfriend. Search warrants show Anne Kasprzak (ANNie KAS-per-zack) told family and friends she was pregnant shortly before her death, and she wrote in her journal that her boyfriend didn't seem to want the baby. Search warrants state she wasn't pregnant. Now 17, the teenager is facing a murder charge and prosecutors want to try him as an adult.
CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) — Police have arrested a suspect accused of killing a man at a Cedar City home and threatening to kill another man. Witnesses told police that Angelo Carrasco fatally shot 45-year-old Shawn Multine. Investigators say Carrasco then pointed his loaded gun at another man in the home while chasing him and threatening to kill him.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The National Park Service says vandalism has been found within five western national parks. A Park Service spokesman says the vandalism has been confirmed in Yosemite and Death Valley National Parks in California; Canyonlands and Zion in Utah; and Crater Lake in Oregon. He says it's too soon to say what penalty or possible charges could result.
