ATLANTA (AP) — Federal health officials have released new guidelines for gear to be worn by health workers who treat Ebola patients. The new standards were issued because two Dallas nurses were infected while treating an Ebola patient. The guidelines call for garb that leaves no part of the body exposed. In addition to increased training, a trained monitor has to supervise the donning and doffing of protective wear.
DENVER (AP) — Lawyers for a terror suspect are demanding to know how the National Security Agency used its warrantless surveillance program to build a case against him. Motions filed in federal court in Denver say Jamshid Muhtorov has a constitutional right to know about the government's surveillance in order to fight the charges. He's accused of supporting a terror group in Afghanistan.
DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Florida leads the nation among the more than 2.3 million voters who have already cast ballots for the November midterm elections. More than 891,000 voters have cast ballots in the Sunshine State, where there is a contentious governor's race. In Chicago, President Barack Obama has cast his vote today for the 2014 midterm elections.
OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) —Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard has been arrested on felony ethics charges. A grand jury has indicted him on 23 charges alleging he used his office and past position heading the state Republican party for personal gain. Hubbard, who is on the November ballot, says the charges are "a political witch hunt."
GARY, Ind. (AP) — An Indiana man has been charged today in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found Friday night at a motel near Gary. Police say Darren Vann, who served time for rape in Texas, may be charged later this week in connection with the slaying of six other women whose bodies were found in northwest Indiana over the weekend.
