October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It is a time to remember those who have suffered from domestic violence and acknowledge the preventative work being done. The New Hope Crisis Center in Box Elder County is a shelter for individuals and families who have become homeless due to domestic violence.
Their purpose is to provide a safe haven for victims while they learn to become self-sufficient. During their stay at the shelter, victims learn about essential life skills necessary to become independent.
The New Hope Crisis Center works with a local thrift shop to provide clothing and household item vouchers, and they have an on-site food pantry to help with emergency food for those in need. The Center offers prevention education, women's and children's support groups, individual counseling, and community outreach - all with a goal to end the cycle of violence.
SelectHealth recognizes the essential services provided by the New Hope Crisis Center as another example of how Utah Gives Back.
