LAS VEGAS (AP) — A group that supports Nevada's state law banning same-sex marriage is asking the entire 9th Circuit Court of Appeals to hear its case. The Coalition for the Protection of Marriage filed documents today claiming a three-judge panel that invalidated the law was biased. County clerks in Nevada began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples Friday.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a security guard subdued a man who shot and wounded another man in the lobby of the office of the Nevada Attorney for Injured Workers this morning. Police say the victim's wounds were not considered life-threatening. The office that hears claims from disabled workers was locked down after employees heard a gunshot.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation has officially installed its new director. Don Soderberg started his first day at the department today, about two weeks after Gov. Brian Sandoval announced his appointment. Soderberg fills a vacancy left when previous director Frank Woodbeck took a job in higher education.
HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have identified a man who was found dead late last month after a fire in a Henderson apartment complex. Clark County coroner's officials say 57-year-old Mark Klecan was found dead Sept. 30 in the Sunset Hills apartments. They haven't released his cause of death. Nobody else was injured in the incident.
