LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two former University of Nevada, Las Vegas employees have pleaded guilty to stealing at least $292,000 from the school.
Lina Khachekian pleaded guilty Thursday to two felony counts of theft, while Marissa Neuhaus pleaded guilty to one felony count of fraudulent misappropriation.
Both women quit their jobs as purchasing agents for UNLV's Office of Information Technology last year.
Prosecutors say the 35-year-old Khachekian and 23-year-old Neuhaus used UNLV purchase accounts to buy electronics for their own use or resale between 2011 and 2013.
They're accused of creating an elaborate scheme of false documents to conceal the purchases from UNLV's management.
They await sentencing in February.
UNLV officials have said the school was insured and reimbursed for its losses, and controls have been put into place to prevent similar problems.
