LAS VEGAS (AP) — Passengers on board a Delta flight from New York to Las Vegas had a scare this morning when a woman and child who recently traveled to Africa became ill. The plane was quarantined and met by emergency personnel when it landed. But a spokeswoman for McCarran International Airport says the illness didn't meet the criteria for Ebola.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A mass wedding is planned in Las Vegas Sunday for same-sex couples as county clerks across the state begin issuing them marriage licenses. At least one Las Vegas wedding chapel stayed open all night as the Clark County clerk remained open until midnight last night. Tourism officials are also taking out newspaper ads touting Las Vegas as a gay marriage destination.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nevada Secretary of State Ross Miller and rival state attorney general hopeful Adam Laxalt traded accusations, talked up their prosecutorial experience and defended their records during a debate taped for airing on public television across the state. The program airs tonight on PBS stations in Nevada.
HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — The former editor of the Reno Gazette-Journal and other newspapers has died at the age of 66. Charles R. "Charlie" Waters Jr. died Wednesday at his home in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson after a battle with lung cancer. Until his retirement two years ago, he worked at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He earlier was an editor at the Las Vegas Sun.
