HAHNVILLE, La. (AP) — The Louisiana Supreme Court has appointed a retired judge from New Iberia to hear the case of a Destrehan High School teacher accused of having sex with a 16-year-old student at a home in Montz and in Jefferson Parish with another teacher.
NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports (http://bit.ly/1ycM0FS) the high court Wednesday tapped Anne Lennan Simon of the 16th Judicial District to oversee 32-year-old Shelley Dufresne's case.
Dufresne is the daughter of Emile St. Pierre, a judge in St. Charles Parish. St. Pierre and the district's two other judges stepped away from the case, citing that relationship.
Dufresne and 24-year-old Rachel Respess, of Kenner, also are accused of having a sexual encounter with the 16-year-old boy at Respess' apartment Sept. 12. The joint case in Jefferson Parish has not yet been assigned.
