RENO, Nev. (AP) — The executive director of the Nevada Commission on Ethics has resigned amid a complaint that she used her office to advance her campaign to become a Washoe County Family Court judge. Caren Cafferata-Jenkins says she will leave her post on Thursday. Cafferata-Jenkins has denied the allegations and said she's resigning because the complaint is bringing negative attention on the commission.
HENDERSON, Nev. (AP) — Police in Henderson are looking for a gunman who wounded a pizza delivery driver during a weekend robbery attempt. A city spokesman said the 42-year-old driver was wounded in the ankle when he refused to immediately turn over cash and property. The shooter fled before police arrived.
PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say they've recovered the rental car of a 27-year-old California woman who was found dead in the Nevada desert. A Nye County detective says a police helicopter searching for the 2014 Hyundai Accent spotted it Saturday about 3 miles away from where Margay Edwards' body was found Sept. 25. Coroner's officials haven't released a cause of death.
SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. (AP) — Authorities have identified a 49-year-old motorcyclist who was killed in a collision with a wild horse on U.S. Highway 50 in Silver Springs. The Nevada Highway Patrol says the victim is Stefan Sobkiewicz of Silver Springs. The injured horse had to be killed.
