POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — A polygamous man who oversaw a southeast Idaho home where nine boys were sent on repentance missions by Warren Jeffs has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for child abuse. The charges stemmed from 49-year-old Nathan Jessop locking a teenage boy in a furnace room for two days, and not reporting that two other boys ran away.
OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Weber County Commissioners rejected a request from UTA for money to study an extension of a commuter rail line, with the chairman blasting the agency for being a mess. The Standard-Examiner reports that chairman Kerry Gibson said the agency already has funding sources and called it a hungry, hungry beast. UTA says it relies on funds from local governments that allocate local sale tax for transit projects.
PROVO, Utah (AP) — Utah County authorities have identified a 39-year-old North Salt Lake woman who appears to have fallen to her death at Bridal Veil Falls. Deputies say Camille Stepan suffered serious injuries consistent with a fall from great height. She was found Tuesday afternoon. The Daily Herald reported a hiker in the area noticed what he thought was a coat and went to retrieve it when he realized it was a woman's body.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Authorities say they have identified the person who posted what appeared to be a threat about the homecoming football game last weekend at Snow College in central Utah. The Utah Attorney General's office did not name the person and says no arrest has been made. The post said homecoming weekend would "go out with a bang."
