ROCK, W.Va. (AP) — Police say a woman died after her all-terrain vehicle plunged about 150 feet down the side of a mountain in West Virginia.
Deputy H.L. Walters with the Mercy County Sheriff's Department says 38-year-old Katherine Greene of Apex, North Carolina, was pronounced dead as she was being taken to a hospital after the accident Friday evening.
Walters tells The Bluefield Daily Telegraph ( http://bit.ly/1rtkXRr ) that Greene's ATV failed to negotiate a curve as she was riding with her husband and several friends on a county road where there are no guardrails.
The deputy says Greene was wearing a helmet.
