MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A 20-year-old University of Wisconsin-Madison student may face paralysis after a diving accident at Lake Mendota.
Madison police say the student dove into water that was about 5 feet deep on Saturday night and hit his head on the bottom of the lake.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports (http://bit.ly/1ooqdCl ) the student was paralyzed afterward, but was able to float to the lake's surface and call out to his friends, who brought him to shore while keeping his neck stable.
The man remains at a local hospital.
