LAS VEGAS (AP) — A federal jury has found a Henderson urologist guilty of conspiracy in a case alleging he tried to save money by reusing single-use plastic sheaths to collect biopsy samples. Dr. Michael Kaplan could face five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. His attorney tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he will appeal.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Pew Charitable Trusts has revised a report on state employee health insurance benefits to show Nevada's program is better than originally stated and generally in line with national averages. The original report released Aug. 12 suggested Nevada state employees must pay a significantly larger share of their health insurance premiums than their counterparts in other states.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A defense lawyer says he'll fight a finding that a Las Vegas woman is fit for trial on charges alleging she threw her 7-month-old son and 1½-year-old daughter out a second-story window before jumping out herself. The children were hospitalized with critical injuries. The woman, Luz Ibarra, was also injured.

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — A pilot from Arizona escaped serious injury when the small plane he was flying crashed in gusty winds while landing at Elko Regional Airport. Airport Security Manager Rick Hofheins tells the Elko Daily Free Press that pilot Scott Stewart of Tucson was alone in the single-engine Cirrus Aircraft. He wasn't injured.
