POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — An eastern Idaho high school football coach has been suspended indefinitely.

School District 25 officials suspended Pocatello High School coach Tom Harrison on Wednesday but cited state law in declining to discuss personnel matters.

Harrison in comments to KIFI-TV (http://bit.ly/1rpzcrC) denied allegations the suspension is the result of verbally abusing players, and states he has never verbally abused one of his players.

The suspension follows a 40-30 loss on Sept. 19 to Idaho Falls High School at Holt Arena in Pocatello.

In a separate matter, the school district last year fired a teacher who coached girls basketball after a Facebook photograph showed Harrison touching her bikini-clad chest.

But the district didn't fire Harrison, one of the winningest coaches in Idaho high school football history.

The fired teacher was eventually reinstated.
