LONDON (AP) — Denmark is the latest country to join the U.S.-led coalition launching airstrikes on Islamic State group militants in Iraq. Lawmakers in Britain and Belgium today have been debating whether to commit their own warplanes to the struggle. The motion being considered in London doesn't address any possible action in Syria.

CHICAGO (AP) — A fire at an air traffic control facility in suburban Chicago has caused more than 500 flights to be canceled at the city's airports today -- and more cancellations are expected. And that could send delays rippling through the nation's air travel network. The fire was quickly put out.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are higher in early trading as investors welcome some positive news on the U.S. economy. The government reported that the U.S. economy expanded at the fastest pace in more than two years this spring. The annual growth rate of 4.6 percent compared with a decline of 2.1 percent in the first three months of the year.

VENICE, Italy (AP) — George Clooney and his fiancee Amal Alamuddin (AH'-muhl ah-luh-muh-DEEN') have arrived in Venice for their weekend wedding extravaganza. They were accompanied by Cindy Crawford and her husband, among the many celebrities arriving for the festivities. Clooney and Alamuddin have not publicly divulged details of the celebrations, although Venice city officials have closed the area along the famed Grand Canal on Monday.

NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City postal carrier is charged with failing to deliver more than 40,000 pieces of mail, some dating to 2005. Prosecutors say Joseph Brucato hoarded the mail at his home, in his car and in his post office locker. He was arrested Wednesday after a supervisor noticed undelivered mail piled up in his personal vehicle. Brucato's attorney says the 67-year-old suffers from depression.
