CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a 21-year-old inmate who had been serving a robbery sentence died in a Carson City hospital after spending two months there.
Nevada Department of Corrections officials say Lawrence Howard died of a chronic medical condition Monday at Carson Tahoe Hospital. He had been there since July 15.
Howard had been in the prison system since April 2013. He was serving a sentence of four to 12 years after being convicted in Clark County of robbery with a deadly weapon.
Carson City coroner's officials responded to the hospital, and an autopsy was planned.
