RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — A cheetah cub born at the Metro Richmond Zoo has been euthanized.
Media outlets report that the female cub was placed in an incubator after a veterinarian discovered that it was dehydrated and lethargic on Monday.
Zoo owner Jim Andelin euthanized the cub on Tuesday after its health deteriorated. He says the cub had stopped urinating and was having problems breathing.
He says he plans to have a necropsy conducted but there's no guarantee it will determine the cause of death.
The cub was one of five born last Friday and was the runt of the litter.
The other cubs are healthy. They include three females and one male.
