SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) — A Scarborough High School student is facing charges after allegedly bringing two knives to school, including a spring-loaded switchblade.
Eighteen-year-old Jonathan Germano was charged Tuesday after fellow students on a school bus told the driver they saw him sharpening a knife.
The driver told school officials about the possibility of a knife.
Germano was pulled from class, and officials found the switchblade in his backpack as well as a K-Bar style knife inside a sheath tied to the outside of the student's boot and concealed under his pant leg.
Germano was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and trafficking in dangerous knives.
Authorities did not disclose why the student brought knives to school
