FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky State Police officials are participating in a statewide program aimed at reducing prescription pill abuse.
State police are working with the Drug Enforcement Administration in trying to remove potentially dangerous pills from home medicine cabinets.
The "Prescription Pill Take Back" initiative is set for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
Kentuckians can bring unused or outdated prescription medications to assigned locations to properly dispose of them.
All the drop-off locations are at state police posts across Kentucky with a couple of exceptions. For KSP Post 8, the drop-off spot is the Carl Perkins Community Center in Morehead. For Post 11, the location is the Laurel County Health Department in London.
