RENO, Nev. (AP) — Reno police used teenage decoys and issued citations to three businesses accused of selling alcohol to minors during the weekend Reno Riverwalk Wine Walk.
Sgt. Ron Chalmers tells KOLO-TV (http://bit.ly/XHPY9r ) that 12 other businesses didn't serve the underage customers during the event.
Police say Bumblebee Blooms, Reno eNVy and the West Street Wine Bar were each issued misdemeanor summonses that could result in a $500 fine.
Four decoy volunteers, aged 16, 17, and 19, visited 15 businesses under the operation funded by the federal government.
The effort was conducted by a multi-agency regional street enforcement team.
