IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Four children have been hospitalized in Idaho due to a severe respiratory virus. Officials tell KIFI-TV that the children are being treated at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. Hundreds of children in more than 10 states have been sickened by a severe respiratory illness that public health officials say may be caused by an uncommon virus similar to the germ that causes the common cold.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The attorney defending a 15-year-old northern Idaho boy accused of killing his father and younger brother wants a possible confession and other statements made to police thrown out. The Spokesman-Review reports Kootenai County Public Defender John Adams is also asking for a jury from outside the county because of extensive media coverage.
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — Visitation to Yellowstone National Park has topped the 2.7 million mark, and the park is on track to have one of its best years on record. Park spokesman Al Nash says each of the park's five entrances showed an increase in automobile traffic in August, compared to 2013 levels, and bus traffic at the entrances increased as well.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The West Ada School District has put a National Book Award winning novel back in the curriculum after removing it six months ago amid parent complaints. "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie is about a 14-year-old Native American in an all-white school and contains discussions of sex, abuse, alcoholism and racism.
