WASHINGTON (AP) — A sixth-grade teacher in Washington will apologize to students for asking them to draw comparisons between former President George W. Bush and Adolph Hitler.
D.C. Public Schools says the McKinley Middle School teacher sent students home with a Venn diagram asking them to compare and contrast Hitler and Bush, with instructions that said, "both men abused their powers."
At least one parent found it troubling, telling WRC-TV (http://bit.ly/1wgZmgt) that the assignment states opinion as fact and shows disrespect for the office of the president.
D.C. Public Schools said in a Wednesday statement that the teacher admitted to poor judgment and will apologize to students.
The statement says the students are currently studying war and peace and "when conflict is warranted."
The teacher's name was not released.
