TWIN FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Seven daredevils have expressed interest to succeed where Evel Knievel failed 40 years ago, jumping the Snake River Canyon. However, the Times-News reports that only one team appears to have a viable plan. Hollywood stuntman Eddie Braun and the son of engineer Scott Truax say their jump is a tribute to Knievel. They have a rocket and ramp but have not set a launch date.
COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho (AP) — The attorney defending a 15-year-old northern Idaho boy accused of killing his father and younger brother wants a possible confession and other statements made to police thrown out. The Spokesman-Review reports Kootenai County Public Defender John Adams is also asking for a jury from outside the county because of extensive media coverage.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The West Ada School District has put a National Book Award winning novel back in the curriculum after removing it six months ago amid parent complaints. "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" by Sherman Alexie is about a 14-year-old Native American in an all-white school and contains discussions of sex, abuse, alcoholism and racism.
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho health officials say four children have been hospitalized due to a respiratory virus that appears to be the same one that has sickened hundreds of children in more than 10 states. KIFI-TV reports that the children are being treated at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The four cases in eastern Idaho are the first reported in the state.
