BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana University says it will move its spring 2015 graduation ceremony outdoors to Memorial Stadium while Assembly Hall is undergoing renovations.
University officials say undergraduate commencement will be held in a single ceremony instead of two as in recent years at 10 a.m. May 9 in the school's football stadium. The graduate commencement will be held at 3 p.m. May 8 at Mellencamp Pavilion.
Officials say IU held graduation at the football stadium for a dozen years before it was moved to Assembly Hall in 2002 because of uncertainties posed by the weather.
Plans call for returning spring commencement to Assembly Hall in 2017.
Major renovations are set over the next couple years at the 43-year-old home to IU's basketball teams. Work is to start after this coming basketball season.
