GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — Israeli aircraft have fired missiles at an apartment tower in downtown Gaza City, collapsing the 12-story building. Palestinian officials say at least 22 people were hurt, including 11 children. The Israeli military says the airstrike targeted a Hamas operations room. Israel has launched some 5,000 airstrikes against Gaza in nearly seven weeks of fighting Hamas.

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — The streets of Ferguson, Missouri, are peaceful again today after many nights of violence and unrest following the shooting death of an unarmed black teenager by police. The local NAACP is holding a youth march today in the St. Louis suburb where Michael Brown was killed. Meanwhile, supporters of the officer who shot the teen rallied in St. Louis.

EDGARTOWN, Mass. (AP) — There are growing concerns over what many Americans perceive to be the militarization of police. Now, two senior administration officials say the White House is conducting a review of programs that have equipped local police departments with military gear from the Pentagon.

TWISP, Wash. (AP) — A slow-moving front bringing heavy rain and thunderstorms is expected to arrive Sunday in areas of Washington state scarred by wildfires. It will arrive just days after flash floods destroyed at least 10 homes in the region. The approaching front is adding more worries to people in an area already singed from widespread wildfires and flooding.

SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says a 6.6-magnitude earthquake has rocked Valparaiso, Chile. There are no immediate reports of injuries or damage. The seismological survey says a preliminary report shows the quake was centered about 11 miles west-northwest of a community called Hacienda La Calera.
