SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah restaurant where a woman unknowingly drank iced tea mixed with chemicals, and nearly died, was cited seven months earlier for improper food labeling. Salt Lake County Health Department records show officials issued seven violations to Dickey's Barbecue in South Jordan in January. The restaurant has had no violations for improper chemical labeling. Prosecutors are reviewing a police investigation of the incident to determine if anyone should be charged.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Education officials say Utah's new computer-based K-12 test shows fewer students are meeting grade-level standards compared with results from a previous exam. The new test aligns with Common Core academic standards that Utah adopted in 2010. Associated State Superintendent Judy Park says SAGE test standards are higher so lower student ability was expected. Individual student and school results will be released this fall.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — FBI director James Comey publicly addressed the agency's civil rights investigation into the shooting of an unarmed black teenager in Missouri during a visit to Salt Lake City. He said the bureau has sent dozens of agents to Ferguson. Comey said the FBI has called for witnesses to speak to federal investigators about the shooting.
ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — The Humane Society of Utah is offering a $5,000 reward for information about who shot a dog in the stomach in southern Utah. Washington County sheriff's deputies say they found a pit bull shot with an arrow Friday. Shelter Director Agnes Smith says the animal underwent three hours of surgery and is improving.
