(AP) — Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to travel to Ferguson, Missouri tomorrow to meet with the FBI and other officials carrying out an independent federal investigation into the death of Michael Brown, the unarmed black 18-year-old who was shot by a white police officer. And a grand jury could soon begin hearing evidence in the case to determine with Officer Darren Wilson should be charged in Brown's death. Meanwhile, last night brought another night of protests and violence from some in the crowd. At least two people were shot and 31 were arrested.
JERUSALEM (AP) — An Israeli official says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered negotiators at Gaza cease-fire talks to return home following renewed rocket fire today by Palestinian militants. Israel has retaliated with airstrikes The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to talk to journalists, says the Egyptian-hosted talks with Hamas militants are based on the "premise" that there will be no violence.
ISLAMABAD (AP) — Thousands of anti-government protesters have begun marching toward Pakistan's parliament, where the country's prime minister has already deployed army troops. Opposition politician Imran Khan and an anti-government cleric (Tahir-ul-Qadri) and their supporters are demanding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif (nah-WAHZ' shah-REEF') step down over allegations of fraud in last year's election.
MARIPOSA, Calif. (AP) — Firefighters from throughout California were being sent to the foothills near Yosemite National Park in California, to protect homes threatened by an out-of-control wildfire. People in thousands of businesses and homes in Madera County already have been given mandatory evacuation orders and four hotels in the community of Oakhurst have been emptied out. The two-square-mile wildfire has destroyed eight structures and is threatening another 500 around Oakhurst.
PHOENIX (AP) — The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning in the Phoenix area. Forecasters say as much as two inches of rain fell in about an hour this morning. Firefighters have rescued at least six motorists from vehicles trapped by street flooding, but no injuries have been reported.
