ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Officials at the University of New Mexico are racing to clean up the flood damage from last week's rainstorms as the fall semester approaches.

The Daily Lobo reports (http://goo.gl/p4QrkX) that nearly 40 buildings were damaged, including the School of Engineering and the recently remodeled Honors College.

Nancy Dennis, associate dean of the Centennial Library, says she has yet to find out the extent of the damage after hearing that there was standing water in the library.

Student operations for the Honors College are in a state of limbo and access to some of the classrooms has become impossible.

The fall semester is scheduled to begin Monday.
