NEW YORK, Jun 14, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Missy "Misdemeanor" Elliott, the rapper whose musical career began with the girl group Sista, is the focus of a new film pitched by New York's Tribeca Films.

Scribe Dianne Houston, an Oscar nominee for her work on the short subject "Tuesday Morning Ride," came up with the film concept and took it to Elliott's manager Mona Scott. Both Scott and Elliott provided their own input before presenting the project to Tribeca.

Universal Pictures has a first-look deal with Tribeca. The as-yet untitled film would be the third biopic about rappers, Daily Variety reported. The lives of the two most prominent male rappers, 50 Cent and Eminem, were also adapted for film.

Elliott writes most of her songs. She has a track record with Universal, having played a role in "Honey," released by the studio in 2003.
