JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel's prime minister is warning Hamas that it'll "pay an intolerable price" if it continues to fire rockets at Israel. Benjamin Netanyahu also says Israeli troops will operate in Gaza as long as necessary to restore calm for Israeli citizens. He's also suggesting Israel will reassess its operation once troops complete the demolition of Hamas military tunnels under the border.

ATLANTA (AP) — Officials say an American doctor infected with the deadly Ebola virus in Africa was able to walk from an ambulance into an Atlanta hospital after he arrived in the U.S. today It's the first time anyone infected with Ebola is believed to have been brought into the country for treatment. Another infected American aid worker is expected to arrive in Atlanta within a few days.

ALTURAS, Calif. (AP) — Six major wildfires are burning in central and far northern California. Four of them grew rapidly overnight and prompted evacuations of homes, vacation cabins and recreation areas. Thousands of firefighters are feverishly attacking the blazes. One of the biggest is burning in Modoc County. It's torched nearly 20 square miles.

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police say a 13-year-old girl will survive after she was found seriously injured in the same room of a coastal Oregon resort where her 2-year-old sister was found dead. No suspects have been named, but investigators are looking for the mother of the children. The Cannon Beach police chief says the father of the girls is cooperating and has been ruled out as a suspect.

MANASSAS, Va. (AP) — A Virginia teenager is being given a year on probation in a sexting case that once included a search warrant for a picture of his genitals. A judge says he would consider dismissing the two child pornography counts against the teen if he stays free of trouble for a year. Police had wanted to take photos of the teen's genitals to prove the case against him but later backed down.
