CORINTH, Miss. (AP) — The Alcorn County School District is making changes to its drug testing policy for its students.
Assistant Superintendent Ritchie Williams tells the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal (http://bit.ly/1rSV8MN ) that one change provides that mandatory counseling will be required after each offense at the student's expense.
The policy now provides that after a first offense the student will be suspended for 30 calendar days; second offense, 60 calendar days; third offense, a calendar year; fourth offense, indefinite suspension and barred from school events and activities.
The policy applies to all students who participate in activities of the Mississippi High School Activities Association, including band, vocal, choral, cheerleader/dance and athletics.
