LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a woman arrested in a deadly home invasion told them she fought off a woman with a screwdriver while her companion fatally shot the woman's husband. Authorities arrested 35-year-old Natasha Jackson on suspicion of murder and other charges stemming from the crime spree yesterday morning that left the homeowner and the male suspect, Cody Winters, dead.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A judge has found a 73-year-old Sparks man competent to stand trial for murder in the fatal shooting of an unarmed trespasser. Wayne Burgarello insists the shooting was justified under Nevada's "stand your ground" law. Lawyers for both sides say they accept the finding that Burgarello understands the charges and can assist in his own defense.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities have identified a 19-year-old man who died earlier this week at a large house party in Las Vegas, but haven't named any suspects. Police say they're seeking tips on the shooting of Morland Richeyelder, who died early Monday morning of a gunshot wound to the neck. Police say about 70 people were at the party.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge has ordered an alleged Las Vegas pimp to life in prison without the possibility of parole in the 2010 beating death of a 21-year-old woman. Judge James Bixler sentenced Marshall Greene yesterday, telling him the killing of Alicia Lee was as brutal a beating as he'd ever seen. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports Greene cried and apologized at sentencing.
